Flared fittings are a type of compression fitting. They're used on aluminium, copper, brass and welded steel tubing that can be flared. Flared compression fittings resist mechanical pull out which is why they are used for higher pressure situations like gas, fuel, oil and liquid petroleum high-pressure lines.
